Madonna is returning as an actress after 23 years. The 67-year-old American singer appears in two episodes of the new season of the series The Studio, Variety reports.

The series is about a young film producer in Hollywood. In the second season of The Studio, he attempts to make a film about Madonna’s life.

In 2021, there were actually plans for a film about Madonna’s life. It would focus primarily on the beginning of her career and her major breakthrough in the 1980s. Julia Garner was to play the young Madonna in the film.

Although the film was never actually made, it is happening in The Studio after all. Garner plays the role of Madonna in it.

Madonna was already spotted on the set of the series in March. At that time, it was not yet clear how big her role would be.

First acting gig in years

It is the first time in 23 years that Madonna is acting in a film or series again. Her last acting work was in 2003, with a small role in the series Will & Grace. Her last major film role was in Swept Away from 2002.
