John Travolta is now also a director. The actor’s directorial debut is titled Propeller One-Way Night Coach and will premiere in May at the Cannes Film Festival.

Director Travolta’s first film is an adaptation of his own book, which he released in 1997. The story is about an eight-year-old boy and his mother who take a flight to Hollywood, where she wants to work as an actress.

The lead roles are played by Clark Shotwell and Kelly Eviston-Quinnett. Ella Bleu Travolta, John’s daughter, plays a supporting role as a flight attendant.

Travolta, known for his roles in films such as Grease and Saturday Night Fever, has been a pilot in his spare time for years. He started flying at age fifteen and has since completed more than nine thousand flights.

Propeller One-Way Night Coach is screening out of competition at Cannes and is therefore not competing for awards. It is the fourth time in his career that Travolta is visiting the festival on the Côte d’Azur.

The first three times, he starred in films that were screened: Pulp Fiction (1994), She’s So Lovely (1997), and Primary Colors (1998). Pulp Fiction was awarded the Palme d’Or, the highest prize at Cannes.

The Cannes Film Festival takes place this year from May 12 to 23.

Propeller One-Way Night Coach will be available on Apple TV after its premiere at the festival.
