Neil Diamond has announced a new album. His record, Wild At Heart, will be released on May 8. The 85-year-old singer announced in 2018 that he was retiring from performing because he suffers from Parkinson’s disease.

Diamond’s new album contains ten previously unreleased songs. It involves music that Diamond created in the 2000s with producer Rick Rubin.

Diamond and Rubin previously made the albums 12 Songs (2005) and Home Before Dark (2008). “My work with Rick was born out of love,” says Diamond. “I am very pleased that these songs are finally being released into the world, thus completing our trilogy.”

Diamond has made more than thirty studio albums throughout his career. The artist announced in 2018 that he was stopping performing immediately because he has Parkinson’s disease.

Last year, he sang his biggest hit, Sweet Caroline, live one last time while receiving the Inspirational Lifetime Achievement Award at the Carousel Ball. Diamond’s music was recently back in the spotlight thanks to the film Song Sung Blue.

The film, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, is about a couple who performed for years as the Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning & Thunder.
