Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl says he underwent therapy six days a week for seventy weeks. This happened after the singer announced in 2024 that he was having a child out of wedlock.
“I did the math: it was more than 430 sessions,” Grohl says in an interview with The Guardian about his therapy.
Grohl explains that his infidelity was not the only reason to go into therapy. The musician lost close friend and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and his mother in a short period of time.
“I needed to stop and sit down with myself to evaluate things. That is a process that is still ongoing.”
In 2024, Grohl announced via social media that he had recently become a father to a daughter born out of wedlock.
He said he planned to be a loving father to her while simultaneously regaining the trust of his wife and children.
“I had to switch everything off,” he reflects on the period following the announcement. “I had to switch off the worries about what others think of me.
That turned out to be a healthy step. If you pay too much attention to that, it can destroy you.”
Grohl already spoke about the impact of Hawkins’ death earlier this week in an interview with Mojo.
“It made me question everything in life, because it was so unfair. I still find it hard to understand,” he said about it.
Foo Fighters release their new album Your Favorite Toy on April 24.
