Metallica singer James Hetfield proposed to his girlfriend Adriana Gillett while snorkeling. An underwater photo of the 62-year-old Hetfield can be seen on the band’s Instagram page, in which he is holding a sign that reads: “Adriana Gillett, will you marry me?”

Gillett is swimming alongside the metal singer and giving a thumbs-up. In her other hand, she is holding a small box containing the engagement ring. The caption accompanying the photo reads: “She said yes!”

On her own Instagram page, the 45-year-old Gillett writes alongside the same photo: “The best birthday surprise ever.”

The fashion designer writes that they were swimming with whale sharks on Friday the 13th when Hetfield made her “the most unique, special, and romantic proposal.”

The fact that her zodiac sign is Pisces makes it extra special: “In a sea full of fish, we found each other.”
