Olivia Lauryn Dean (born 14 March 1999 in London) is a British singer. She first appeared as a backing vocalist for the band Rudimental in 2017, before embarking on a solo career.

In 2023, she achieved international success with her album “Messy,” followed by the album “The Art of Loving” (2025).

Olivia Dean was born in Haringey (North London) and grew up in Walthamstow. At 15, she was accepted into the renowned BRIT School, where several alumni found their way into the music industry.

In 2017, she was invited by the band Rudimental to perform as Emeli Sandé in their hit “Free” during a festival performance.

This later resulted in the collaborative track “Adrenaline,” which appeared as a bonus track on their next album. In 2018, she also released her first single, “Reason to Stay.”

She then signed with the label AMF Music and released her first EP, “OK Love You Bye,” the following year. The title track garnered over a million views.

The major label EMI came on board and released her second EP, “What Am I Gonna Do on Sundays?”, at the end of 2020. Although the song “The Hardest Part” again garnered millions of views, it failed to break through into the charts.

After another EP, she recorded the Christmas classic “The Christmas Song” with orchestral accompaniment, a cover of Nat King Cole, in late 2021. This reached number one in the UK singles chart around the turn of the year.

At the end of June 2023, her debut album, Messy, was released, which peaked at number 4 in the UK charts. It also charted in several countries on the European continent. It included the single “Dive.”

In February 2025, she released her single “It’s Not Perfect But It Might Be” for the soundtrack of the Bridget Jones film, Mad About the Boy.

The song achieved a top 40 hit in the UK charts. Dean cites artists like Adele, Lauryn Hill, Angie Stone, Amy Winehouse, Carole King, Al Green, and The Supremes as her inspiration.
