Emma Roberts To Star In Bride Wars-inspired Series

Emma Roberts will star in a new series inspired by the 2009 film Bride Wars. Film studio New Regency is developing the project in collaboration with streaming service Peacock, according to American trade media.

The series is described as a “fresh, relaxed reinterpretation” of the romantic comedy. Instead of two brides, the story revolves around two wedding planners who clash.

Roberts plays a wedding planner from a big city who competes with a colleague from a smaller town. The second lead has not yet been announced.

Bride Wars was released in 2009. The film was about two best friends, played by Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, who become rivals when they plan their wedding on the same day and location.

In addition to her role on camera, Roberts is also involved in the series as an executive producer.

The premiere date for the series has not yet been announced.
