Halle Berry and Van Hunt are engaged and will soon be married. The American actress announced this Thursday night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Hunt had already proposed to Berry, but she hadn’t yet responded.

Rumors had previously surfaced that Berry had rejected the proposal. “There’s some confusion,” she said. “There’s a rumor going around that my boyfriend, who I’ve been with for almost six years, proposed to me and that I said no.”

But according to 59-year-old Berry, there’s no truth to that. “We just don’t have a date yet, but of course I said yes.”

The rumors arose after 55-year-old Van Hunt told Today in June that his marriage proposal was “on hold.” According to Berry, a lack of love wasn’t the cause.

She believed that marriage wasn’t necessary to affirm their love for each other. “We’re not doing that,” she said at the time.

“But I think we will get married,” she continued. “Simply because, of all the people I’ve married, this is the person I should have married.”

Berry has tied the knot three times before.

She was married to former baseball player David Justice, then to singer Eric Benét, and from 2013 to 2016 to French actor Olivier Martínez.
