Elle, the spin-off series of the film Legally Blonde starring newcomer Lexi Minetree, will be available on Prime Video starting July 1st. Actress Reese Witherspoon announced this on Instagram. The actress played the law student in the original 2001 film.

Witherspoon calls it “a dream come true” that after 25 years, she can share the story of how her character Elle Woods became “the unstoppable force we all fell in love with.”

The 49-year-old actress found watching Minetree take on the role of Elle “one of the most fulfilling experiences” of her career.

“The themes of our series—friendship, authenticity, and self-belief—will resonate with both fans of the original films and a new audience.”

The original 2001 film tells the story of a young woman who wants to prove her ex-boyfriend wrong by attending Harvard Law School.

She wants to show that she has more to offer than just good looks. Two sequels were later made.

Witherspoon also shared that the new spin-off series will have a second season on Prime Video.
