Raye Feels Better Now That She’s Sober

RAYE is feeling much better now that she’s been largely sober on her second album. “During my debut album, My 21st Century Blues, I was rolling a joint in the clouds for a long time,” the British singer tells ELLE.

RAYE is happy to be back down to earth while writing her lyrics. “I like myself better this way. I’ve found discipline and abstinence in my life, and that’s a beautiful thing,” she says.

Although RAYE still enjoys the occasional glass of wine, she says she no longer drinks to “solve things, bury them, numb them, or escape from them.”

The 28-year-old singer sang about this in the song “Escapism.”

RAYE is also closer to her family now than she was before. “I was a completely different person than I am now, even though I can pretend to be the same or put on a mask and play the part.”

The new album from RAYE, known for the hit “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!”, doesn’t yet have a name or release date.

RAYE released her debut album “My 21st Century Blues” in 2023. It features the global hit “Escapism.”

A year later, she released the seven-minute track “Genesis.”
