Stephen Graham lost his Golden Globe a few hours after the ceremony. The British actor received the award for his role in the hit series Adolescence, but due to a mix-up at the airport, the statuette remained in the United States.

The 52-year-old actor had to travel to Madrid for work immediately after the ceremony in Los Angeles, he explained in an interview with the radio program Capital Breakfast.

Due to time constraints and a mix-up at check-in, his checked suitcase didn’t make it onto the plane and was left behind at the Atlanta airport. Inside, it contained his personal belongings and the Golden Globe.

“I couldn’t fit the Globe in my carry-on. That statuette is heavy!” said Graham. His belongings were delivered to him two days after his flight.

Adolescence was the big winner in the television categories at the Golden Globes. The series about thirteen-year-old Jamie Miller, who is accused of murdering his classmate Katie Leonard, won awards for Best Miniseries, Anthology Series, or Made-for-TV Movie, among others.

Sixteen-year-old Owen Cooper won Best Supporting Actor, making him the youngest winner ever in that category. Graham, who co-created the series, received the award for Best Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for Television.
