Penn Badgley & Wife Had Marital Problems

Penn Badgley and his wife, Domino Kirke, nearly separated when Kirke suffered a second miscarriage. “Of course, we didn’t give in to the impact and chaos of it,” Badgley says on the podcast Totally Booked with Zibby.

Badgley and Kirke felt like they couldn’t break a cycle because it was their second loss. The actor also wrote about it in his essay collection, Crushmore: Essays on Love, Loss, and Coming-of-Age, released last month.

Host Zibby Owens reads a portion of the book on the podcast. “My wife and I were on the verge of separating, as many do after such losses,” Badgley writes in his collection.

“Largely because we felt so isolated in a culture where this isn’t talked about much and where no one knows how to support those going through it.”

Badgley, best known for the shows Gossip Girl and You, eventually had three children with Kirke. They are parents of a four-year-old son and identical twins.

The two have been together since 2014. Three years later, they tied the knot.
