Blake Lively has asked the court to drop the defamation lawsuit filed against her by Justin Baldoni, American media report.

The actress is relying on a law that would protect people who report sexual misconduct.

The law prohibits the abuse of defamation lawsuits, such as this one, to take revenge on people who have filed legal claims or spoken out about sexual harassment, Lively’s lawyers said in the filed request.

Lively sued Baldoni, her co-star in the film It Ends With Us, for sexual harassment. Baldoni then sued the actress and her husband Ryan Reynolds for defamation.

Baldoni, who also directed the film, is seeking damages of 400 million dollars (almost 366 million euros).

Reynolds previously asked the court to dismiss the defamation case. He accused Baldoni of bullying, among other things.

The case between the actors will be heard in March next year.
